Big Changes Planned For Guild Wars 2 in April

ArenaNet was just getting started when it wrapped up the living world storyline of Guild Wars 2 with the Battle for Lion’s Arch.

The developer promised big changes were on the way, and it didn’t just mean in terms of Tyria’s narrative. So what’s next? ArenaNet has announced the Guild Wars 2 April 2014 Feature Pack, the first update in GW2′s history that focuses exclusively on in-game features.

“As a release that focuses primarily on game systems, the April 2014 Feature Pack will include a sweeping range of new features—everything from new systems that change and upgrade the way you experience Guild Wars 2 to quality of life and balance updates that improve existing gameplay systems,” ArenaNet stated.

The devs aren’t ready to share all the details just yet. They say a series of videos and blog posts leading up to the April 15 release of the Feature Pack will reveal all. For now, ArenaNet is talking about just one of the major changes: an overhaul to the trait system that will introduce a whopping 40 new traits to GW2.

Looks like April is going to be a big month for Guild Wars 2 players.

After reading what they have in store for the trait system, I have to say I feel like they are making a huge mistake. Not only are they pushing back when you start getting traits by 20 levels, but they’re over simplifying the entire system.

The trait system change is really good, not only were many players not even using it but now it is far more easily accessible without an arbitrary gold cost attached to it. Not only that we have a kind of scavenger hunt to acquire the new traits from around the world of Tryia, from missions bosses and so on.

The majority of posts I have read on the forums have been fairly positive towards the trait plans, lets hope the other features are just as good.
