Big Class and Balance Changes Coming to SWTOR in 1.4

Some major changes to class abilities and balance are coming to The Old Republic in Game Update 1.4, and Senior Designer Austin Peckenpaugh has shared the details and thought processes behind these changes in a recent dev blog.

The biggest changes revolve around crowd control abilities and the resolve system, with some subsequent class changes made to flow with these modifications. 1.4 will also reevaluate stealth gameplay.

Some highlights include:

  • Electro Dart and Cryo Grenade now have a 10-meter range.
  • Electrocute and Force Stun now have a 10-meter range.
  • Overload and Force Wave have been redesigned. These abilities now knock back all targets within a 15-meter 120-degree cone in front of you. Furthermore, these abilities now knock back all potential targets instantly; they no longer wait for an animation note at the end of the ability animation.
  • The gain logic of Resolve has also been adjusted to prevent penalizing pub gamers from rendering an enemy nigh-unstoppable when several team mates attempt to CC him at once.

    Class balancing should always be worked on. This shouldn’t be show cased like a major patch. Wheres the content that that immerses me into the world and doesn’t include GRINDING for gear. Like maybe add in things to explore in the world?
