Big Indie Sale Starts Next Week

A new campaign has begun, one that celebrates online retailers that give indie developers the freedom to control the pricing of their games. From May 24 through June 1, participating developers will be discounting their games through such digital distribution platforms as the App Store, Google Play, and Steam.

Named “Because we May,” the campaign posits the following mission statement:

We believe that developers should have the freedom to price their games how they like, without interference from the online stores that sell the games. Why? Because it allows us to promote our games more freely, as we are doing here! We rely on the ability to promote our games for our livelihood and control over pricing is an important tool for this purpose.

While the list of discounted games is too exhaustive to reproduce in full, here are the discounted Steam titles that received a Metacritic score of 75 or greater:

  • Snuggle Truck
  • Vessel
  • Eets
  • Darwinia
  • uplink
  • Jamestown
  • Super Meat Boy
  • The Binding of Isaac
  • Gish
  • Avadon: The Black Fortress

  • Anomaly Warzone Earth
  • Swords & Soldiers
  • Toki Tori
  • NyxQuest
  • Multiwinia
