Bigpoint’s Game of Thrones MMO Titled, Teased

Bigpoint are certainly playing things close to the vest when it comes to their free-to-play Game of Thrones MMO. Their big announcement this week was the game‘s official title: Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms. The German developers also revealed that they are collaborating with Norwegian studio Artplant on the game.

If you’re looking for details, you’ll have to wait until Comic-Con, when Bigpoint plan to unleash a new trailer. Until then, all we have to go on is my GDC 2012 preview and this brief description:

“Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms begins after the deaths of King Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. The Starks of the north declare war on the south and Baratheon’s two brothers both make claims to the throne. Players are challenged to form alliances through Player vs. Player (PvP), siege combat and politics to control Westeros.”

Pretty bare-bones so far, huh? Let’s hope that Seven Kingdoms isn’t another entry in the line of licensed mediocrities that already includes Game of Thrones: Genesis and the Game of Thrones RPG (both by Cyanide Studios).
