BioShock Infinite Gets Another Delay: New Release is March 26

Irrational Games wants to spend a little more time polishing BioShock: Infinite, and so it’s pushing back the game’s release date by about a month.

Creative Director Ken Levine revealed the date change at a preview event in Beverly Hills, in which video games were allowed to try to opening few hours of the game. Previously, the game’s release date was Feb. 26, 2013 (after another delay from October 2012), but Levine said that when Gears of War Producer Rod Fergusson joined the team working on Infinite, he mentioned that that the game really needed more time for polishing.

“(Fergusson) said, ‘You know, I this is great, but I think it could use three or four more weeks of polishing for bug fixes,” Levine explained, noting that he’d been thinking the same thing.

The new release date is March 26, Levine said. He also said that Irrational felt that was how much time the game would need to be at its absolute best. Ultimately, the players will have to judge, but after spending a few hours playing Infinite, we’re pretty excited. Check out our coverage here.

I wish more devs would do this. I think all games should take Blizzards pre-Activisions mantra. Its done when its done.
