BioShock Infinite – Heavy Hitters Part 3: Boys of Silence (VIDEO)
Damn ye, Irrational Games. Why must you make the wait for BioShock Infinite so difficult? Everything about it, from the fact that it takes place in roughly the same year as The Music Man, to the floating city in the sky, is just pure, turn of the century awesome. Especially the game‘s mini bosses, Heavy Hitters. They’ve been showcased in an ongoing series of videos recently – we’ve already seen the amazing Motorized Patriot that looks like a killer robot version of George Washington – and now we have the latest installment, focusing on the Boys of Silence.
The Boys of Silence really get to what I think is going to be my favorite thing about BioShock, that everything drips of the elaborate aesthetic of the period prior to World War 1. Truefact: The huge number of young men who served in the armed forces during that war changed fashion forever, particularly in the way facial hair became passe and the idea of sturdy, practical clothing changed formal and business wear. BioShock Infinite seems to capture a bit of the lingering Victorian convolution still present in the Wilson years, and I can’t wait to play.
