BioWare Confirms Leaked Mass Effect 3 DLC Will Be Free to Collector’s Edition Buyers

If you were lucky enough to snag the N7 Collector’s Edition of Mass Effect 3 before it effectively sold out, congratulations — you’ll also be getting the Mass Effect 3 DLC that was accidentally leaked on Xbox Live yesterday, called From Ashes (warning: spoilers beyond that link).

Mass Effect 3 Producer Mike Gamble confirmed that the DLC is indeed coming, and will be available without an additional cost to players who buy the collector’s edition, including the digital deluxe edition on PC. Here’s his post on the BioWare forums:

Hi all! We’re happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector’s Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We’ll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!

No word as to what the DLC will cost or when it will be released just yet, though. I’d guess it’ll run about $10, if other DLC in the series is any indication.

This just reaffirms my choice to wait and buy GOYT or complete editions of games rather than get Griswold’d into buying games early. Thanks for the kick in the junk every time I buy a game only to see DLC has come out.
