BioWare Has At Least Thought About Mass Effect MMO Possibilities
The universe of Mass Effect is a big one, and though the Commander Shepard trilogy is coming to an end in just a week’s time(!), BioWare has suggested it’s not done with the universe by any stretch.
But a Mass Effect MMO? Well, it’s possible, but BioWare isn’t rushing into it.
Speaking with Penny Arcade Report, BioWare’s founders, Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, noted that the universe of Mass Effect offers a huge “possibility space” — there’s potentially a lot of things gamers would like to do and could be able to do given the size and strength of the universe. The developer is still coming off the apparently successful but still arduous launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic, and it doesn’t seem ready to tackle an anything MMO in addition to the one it’s already running anytime soon.
That said, Zeschuk and Muzyka didn’t turn down any possibilities in the interview.
“It’s daunting, but the neat thing is it would lend itself to a different type of game play,” Zeschuk said in the interview. “It’s fun to think about. I imagine people think it would be just like Mass Effect as it is… but there’s lots of people there. It’s really interesting, I don’t know. It’s a tough one.”
