Bioware Hosting Mass Effect 4 Panel at Comic-Con

Bioware will hosting a Mass Effect 4 panel this Saturday at Comic-Con 2014.

The panel was revealed today in a posting to the company’s Twitter account.

“Attending @Comic_Con?” Asked the Tweet. “Join us Sat 2PM for our panel on the next @masseffect moderated by our friends @NerdistDotCom.”

According to a link included in the Tweet, the panel will be entitled “Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect.” Among the panelists, in turn, will be a variety of Bioware staffers including lead animator Carl Boulay, producers Fabrice Condominas and Mike Gamble, senior artist Noel Lukasweich and community manager Jessica Merizan.

The panel’s description indicates that the group will spend an hour “[sharing] their experience in shaping the next Mass Effect game while staying true to the critically acclaimed series. As GameFront will also be attending Comic-Con, you can expect that we’ll be there to report on any interesting tidbits that arise during the discussion.

Just make sure you don’t dare to challenge the ‘artistic vision’ of the people who changed the original ending because vague details were leaked, rushed a poor replacement out that only the top two men in the company had any direction over, and then forced players to play multiplayer or use their stupid iPhone app in order to see the so-called best ending which was a five second clip of a faceless soldier inhaling suddenly in context-deficient rubble. And that’s not even mentioning the Javik insult.

I simply do not believe anything these hacks say anymore, they have shown numerous times their utter contempt for their own fanbase and their inability to respond to criticism honestly. They don’t deserve your time or money and they sure as hell won’t be receiving mine.

Someone needs to ask them what colours they have picked for the ending this time.

Maybe that’s why they’re having the panel…. to get color ideas.. swaths, paint chips, etc.

Not just with ME, but for any future BW games that incorporates player choice, I think the number of decisions a player gets to make needs to be cut down. It’s really pointless for me to make Anderson the ambassador or kill the Rachni queen if for story sake they’re just going to Anderson step down and have a Rachni queen clone appear. Also it would hopefully cut down on the number of flags that don’t trigger correctly if our choices are ported over to another game.

Those kinds of problems occurred because they didn’t have the entire trilogy mapped out from day one. So, before they knew it, they had all these choices that seemed to be important at the time and were unable to find a reasonable way of accomodating all the combinations.

So, the only way to avoid same in the future is not to reduce choice, but to know ahead of time what the repurcussions of each choice will be.
