BioWare Says TOR Will “Never End”

Back in July, we reported that Star Wars: The Old Republic creative director James Ohlen promised fans that the new Star Wars MMO would last for decades. In August, TOR writer Daniel Erickson claimed Ohlen was only kidding.

However, in a recent interview with Gamasutra, James Ohlen and BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk made statements that suggest they are, in fact, in it for the long haul.

Ohlen said:

Unlike a lot of other game companies that, once they launch a game, downsize their teams radically, our plan is to keep the team together and continue to focus on building content. [...] We’re very much focused on Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars for the foreseeable future.

Apparently wanting to one-up Ohlen’s promise of TOR lasting for decades, Greg Zeschuk added:

It’s hard to say right now what we may or may not do as far as future projects. We’re really busy working on future SWTOR content as well as continuing to improve the service. This will never end.

TOR’s longevity is ultimately out of BioWare’s hands, but it’s great to hear that they plan to continue supporting their product throughout its life.

Its still up to see if SWTOR will have a future player base or not.

Yes, no doubt there will be a HUGE swell of players after X-mas but how many of those players will stay in the game?
