BioWare Sticking with Frostbite 2

It seems that the next generation of BioWare games will be powered by the Frostbite 2 engine, according to BioWare Edmonton general manager Aaryn Flynn, who said that it’s likely that the engine will be the company’s go-to technology moving forward.

Speaking with Game Informer, Flynn said:

“When we look at Frostbite and the success we’re having with it with Dragon Age 3 and the support we’re getting from teams around EA, it’s fun being a part of an organization and community that’s doing good work with that technology.”

Dragon Age 3 and the next title in the Mass Effect series have already been confirmed to be powered by Frostbite 2.

Well, the engine is the last thing people have problems with over at Bioware these days.

I would wish them luck with the engine, but they probably need more luck getting suckers to buy their future games instead.

Makes no difference. The first game had the worst engine yet was by far the most involving and coherent experience. BioWare are, predictably, focusing more on the flashy crap and not enough on the core of their games – the stories, the characters, the environments. They can make it using a military computer for all I care, it won’t make it a good game if they continue to cater to the lowest denominator of blinkered, easily-amused non-committal scumbags who think pretty-ish graphics and ‘sad’ incidental music equals a narrative.

Frostbite is that the one that EA used for BF3 and said was too complicated for Modders so they ban all Mods?
