BioWare Still Debating What To Do About Tali’s Face

If you choose to have your male Shepard bone Tali in Mass Effect 2, then he got to see Tali’s unhelmeted face. But you didn’t. BioWare, per an interview with CVG, is still debating what to do about the fan expectation that we will, duh, get to see her face in Mass Effect 3. Derek Watts:

A lot of people want to have her face revealed and obviously people are going to be pissed off either way. Like “I thought she was going to look beautiful!” or “I thought she was going to be the most hideous thing ever!” So we’ve had a lot of debate over Tali’s face, but that’s the one we kind of dread a lot. We’re always “well, let’s talk about something else for a while!” That’s something we’re going to have to decide.

It sounds like they’ve deccided to show her face, but they’re still torn on what to make it look like. Whatever happens, please make her attractive.

I romanced Tali in ME2 and can honestly say she is my favorite love interest by far. I would like to see her with an attractive face, however, I really hope they don’t make it too human looking like the Asari, that would be silly. What they need to do is create a perfect balance that will both appeal to the human eye yet do justice to her shy personality and to the creativity and mysticism of her race. To be honest, in the end I don’t really care what she looks like. I just don’t want to leave Shepard’s story arc without knowing what she looks like.

“Whatever happens, please make her attractive.” – What does it matter, you already boned her?

*begin shameless SW reference*

Tali: “Shepard, help me take this mask off.”
Shepard: “But you’ll die!”
Tali: “Nothing can stop that now. Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes.”
[Shepard carefully removes Tali's mask to reveal her {insert adjective} face underneath.]
Tali: “Now, go my love. Leave me.”
Shepard: “No, you’re coming with me. I won’t leave you here. I’ve got to save you!”
Tali: [smiles] “You already have, Shepard. You were right. You were right about me… Tell everyone… you were right…” [dies]

*end shameless SW reference*

If you ask me, it all amounts to one big cliché if they even bother showing Tali’s face. I say leave it a mystery. It can only diminish her by doing so. I’d be ok with them showing the back of her head (kind of like what they did with Vader in SW:TESB). It’s all a bit silly of Bioware romancing the idea in the first place.

Does it really matter what Tali actually looks like? a player has to either face the fact that 1) she is a beautiful person on the outside as well as on the inside or 2) that she is a beautiful person on the inside as it really doesent matter what she looks like. my two cents are look at the facts: you have a species whos immunity system is destroyed and has to take antibotics to keep them alive, a person who is completly sealed because of this fact is not going to look the best in the world (if the game developers are telling the truth about the whole Tali and her people situition); look at the Geth as representations of the Quarian people, humans made robots that resemble humans in some form or another (look at the LOKI mechs) so one can assume that the Geth look like the Quarians in some form or fashion (look at the Geth and Quarian bodies, virtually the same and the Geth even have hoods as to mimic their “creators”).

on the opposite hand they may make Tali look like a deliapted version of the individual that voices Tali (in my opinion not a bad choice) who happens to be Ash Sroka (

In the end, as far as im concerned it does not matter what Tali looks like, she is a great character and i am not living in some fantsy world where aliens look great (Species series), i am also not a shallow individual (i could care less if you are) who judges a person on what they look like after i know that they are as wonderful a person with a great personality.

I say to Bioware “people are going to buy this epic game regarless of what Tali looks like so make the decision already because the longer you debate on this (non) issue the longer it will take for this game to come out, and you have already pushed it back, worst case you never reveal her face, leave it up the the players imagination and let them decide what she looks like, because if looks are important and not what we already know, those fans already have imaginations that could put Casey Anthony to shame.

thanks for reading and have a nice day,
