Unforeseen Consequences

  1. Enjoy the start of the game on a relaxing train ride through the Black Mesa facility. When you arrive at Sector C, exit the train and follow the security guard.
  2. You’re running late, so move through the blast doors. After receiving some hurtful comments about your bad haircut, move through the second set of doors into the facility.
  3. Head to the front desk and talk to the guard. You’ll need to grab your hazard suit, so make your way through the room. Feel free to talk to the staff.
  4. Follow the green line and open the doors to the locker room. After hearing about the horrible dress code, make your way left towards the room containing your hazard suit.
  5. Press the H.E.V button, unlock your suit, and put it on. Double back the way you came in. If you’re feeling curious, open the locker marked ‘Freeman,’ or just head into the bathroom and handle the emergency.
  6. Follow the blue line until you reach a security guard blocking the door. He’ll unlock it and allow you to move through.
  7. Take the elevator down to the next floor and follow the multi-colored lines on the wall. A scientist will start talking to you. Follow the scientist into the testing area.
  8. Leave Eli and take the next elevator. Walk towards the test chamber and listen to the scientists. When the blast doors open, head into chamber.
  9. Next, you’ll face your greatest challenge: climbing a ladder. To save you from frustration later in the game, you should know that you can easily enter and exit the ladder by pressing ‘E’ near it. Exiting the ladder will place you on the nearest safe platform.
  10. Press the button on the console and get ready for the experiment. Move down the ladder.
  11. Once the sequence is complete, move across the room to the specimen. Insert the specimen into the beam, and allow the chaos to ensue.
  12. Once you are able to get up, head back through the destroyed room to find the scientists. Avoid fire and any other hazardous materials.
  13. Go up the elevator and find Eli. He will let you out of the room so you can get to the surface. Avoid the giant laser beam, and keep away from the door.
  14. Once the door is destroyed continue forward.
  15. Continue forward and evade the laser beams by crouching. Crouch through the destroyed glass door into the next room.
  16. Call the elevator and wait for it to drop. Crouch through the next destroyed door and move up the ladder.
  17. Recruit the security guard to kill some enemies. Move into the next room and grab flares and health. Continue down the hallway allowing the guard to kill the enemies for you. If he dies, grab his gun.
  18. Keep an eye out for a red vent to the right of the hallway right before you enter a room. Crouch through the vent and enter the flaming room. You will find a jammed door and a few enemies.
  19. In the jammed door you will find your legendary crowbar. Grab it and start beating enemies to death. Avoid explosions and fire.
  20. Jump through the broken wall. To avoid frustration later, try to remember you can jump higher and further by utilizing crouch jump and sprint.
  21. Enter the next sector by placing the security checkpoint device back in its place on the wall. Open the door at the end of the hallway on the left. Go into the elevator and wait for the fall.
  22. Move to the left and avoid getting pulled upwards by the Barnacles. If you do, kill them. You will also encounter your first Houndeye. Go through the door on the right at the end of the room.
  23. Move up the stairs and turn the red valve. Find the scientist at the end of the hall. Talk to him, and he’ll lead you to a security office.
  24. Head back the way you came in and use the catwalk to reach the security room. Use the manual override valve outside of the office.
  25. Grab your weapons and leave the room. Once both manual override valves are activated, move back into the main room and head through the green-lit doors.
  26. Continue down the hall and avoid the barnacles, headcrabs, and explosive barrels. Continue until the Vortigaunt starts attacking you. Kill it with the weapons you picked up earlier.
  27. Drop down through the floor tile in front of the door into the sewers.
  28. Find the valve in the maze of tunnels while simultaneously killing barnacles and zombies. Activate the emergency override.
  29. After activating the override, the water level will quickly rise. Swim towards the entrance and swim up to the ladder.
  30. The next room will contain a lift, security room, and a vent near the entrance. Use the scattered objects to reach the vent. Crouch through until you reach the security room.
  31. Activate the power and move towards the freight elevator. Activate it and fight the headcrabs on the way down.
  32. Find the hallway with the dead security guard and follow it into the next room. The walkway will explode. Jump onto the pipes to the right and follow it into the vents.
  33. Drop down through the vent into the next room. There will be a bullsquid that you will need to kill. Jump into the water.
  34. Take the right-most tunnel and climb the ladder. Head through the doors to the other side of the first room. Use the next door and head up the ladder.
  35. Make your way to the catwalk and climb up yet another ladder. Use the crates suspended in the air to travel across the room. Remember to use crouch jumping and sprinting.
  36. Once you reach the end of the room, head through the door and up the ladder. Keep moving and kill the houndeye enemies ahead of you.
  37. Activate the elevator to the office complex.

This “walkthrough” sucks. The character cannot even jump at all and many of the puzzles cannot be solved according to what this says. I have had to complete them using other means, such as stacking boxes up to get out of an area because the SOB can’t jump!

Now I am stuck in the sewage area at #15! BS!!! You can;’t avoid them and you can’t slow down! F this “game”

You can jump ( space then ctrl )

On November 6, 2012 at 6:32 pm

Missing out KNERD, just beat the game and had a lot of fun. the puzzles are headache level hard, but you’ve got to master the ctrl-space jump and shift-jump to solve the puzzles.

i found this walkthrough pretty strange , it seems to be mixed up with the original halfelife , i have got to lambada core and i am going around the cliff, up i go but cant jump any further , this part is not even in the walkthrough , and also agree it is not possible to jump some of the distances (and yes i do know about using the ctrl key) so you have to build a platform with drums and pallets , score out of 100 would be 30 , i wonder if this person has ever played the game ,

Hey crusty! We’re here to help, but we’re going to need a little more information to solve this problem. Can you list which part of the Lambda Core guide is giving you trouble? Just a number of the entry is fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience! Also, make sure you’re using the Long-Jump Module when that becomes available in the Lambda Core, or Shift+Jump to make longer jumps when necessary. Many of the jumps can be tricky, but if you’ve still got problems, we want to help address them.

ok Kevin Thienhaus ,, fairs fair , first off i’m disapointed because Black Mesa is great in some ways better than original ,. OK where i am at present is “bm_c2a5c” up the cliff where i have to do a massive jump it looks like to get up the top , i will go back in my saved, to start of lamda core and find the long jump module , but from memory when you have passed that , you cant go back , if that is so then you should not be able to bypass it , i’m a bit confused on where the walkthrough is upto (as for me i’m always confused ) but it would be 13 onwards, and where is the part about going around the side of the cliffs ,, A bit of a ramble but i hope you get it

cheers crusty

#29-After activating the override, the water level will quickly rise. Swim towards the entrance and swim up to the ladder.

There is no ladder in the exit hole.

There is no ladder in the entrance/exit hole,so i can’t climb out!

There is indeed a ladder — the first emergency exit from the sewers will have a broken ladder. Don’t fret, because if you’re going the right direction, toward the opposite side of the door you first dropping into the sewer from, you will find an exit with an intact ladder.

I love the game, but like the others, the character can not jump near high enough. If you could make him jump twice as high—-gosh what an improvement.

Try using your brain KNERD. You might find you actually enjoy gaming that way. Or you may just be better off just watching movies and fantasising you are the main character. This walkthrough is good to get a kick start on areas you get stuck on and Ive found it good. Gives you enough to keep moving but still lets you work stuff out for yourself. Good work guys.

I start generator, talk to the scientist, but after I reach that red button and press ‘E’ to start rocket, nothing happens.!!!
Please help me

@Faisal Aslam,

Can you pinpoint exactly in the walkthrough where you are having trouble?

If it is “Blast Pit” make sure to hit both red buttons. There are two, each in separate rooms.

This walkthrough is wrong, you don’t fight soldiers in this chapter

Can you tell me which chapter you’re looking at? I take pride in the accuracy of our walkthroughs, so if the information isn’t correct, it should be fixed.

In the original game, I thought I’d NEVER get the ‘Duck-Jump’
This one’s tougher but funses!
C’mon, KNERD
It’s a GAME

Great walkthrough. up until the blast pit part. I restarted the generator successfully, and the scientist told me power was restored, so i went back to the control room to hit the “fire” button, but the button won’t work. any other switches i have to throw first? its gonna suck to have to go back through all that.

Hmm! I believe you need to return to the missile silo with the tentacle monster. There should be another path to go down that leads to the gas pumps. Get those working, and I think you should be good to go.

You are getting “neighboring famers” because you have the back set incorrectly and not anything to do with tension adjustment. If you are shooting with the square insert you want the arrow pointing to the 12 not the 16. Switch that and you will get perfectly spaced famers if you wind it correctly. Hence another reason to probably avoid sending your film out to Walmart and support a local lab instead. I work at an independent lab in Iowa City and we charge $9.99 for 120 and that includes a full set of 5×5 prints. Worth the extra money in my mind to get important feedback and higher quality prints.

Love the article exepct for the last portion. If I’ve just spent half the day shooting a roll of film, the last place I want to trust with the processing is Walmart’s third party film processing affiliate. Take it to a proper lab where you know the people, can get a snip test and can have it pushed or pulled if necessary.
