On a Rail
- Ride the train as it spins down to the next level. Drive the train straight ahead and watch out for barnacles.
- Continue driving the train to the split in the tracks. Kill any enemies and continue straight forward. Find the electrified water.
- Walk to the left and throw the power switch on the wall. Climb down into the water and find the override. You will need to plug something into it.
- Jump into the water and follow the wires. There will be another plug at the bottom of the water, so grab it and head back to the override. Plug it in.
- Climb back up to the train and throw the power switch again. Use the ladder to head into the room near the switch. Move down the stairs and into the room.
- Press the security door activation button to open the door on the tracks. Head back to the train once the doors are open. Drive the train into the next area.
- Exit the train and move up the ladder to the left. Make sure that the train is still spiraling upwards as you ascend with it. Use cover to destroy any sentries in the area while you are moving up the ladder.
- Once you clear the room of sentries, the lasers will disappear. Your train should now be at the top waiting for you. Board the train and continue forward.
- There will be one sentry on the track. Either avoid the laser completely or destroy it. Drive forward until you are ambushed by a couple of soldiers.
- Kill the soldiers and enter the room they were in. Follow the stairs into another room full of soldiers. You can recruit the security guard in the closet to your left. Clear the room of soldiers.
- Find the room with the tracks. There should be a giant Half-Life symbol above a door. Climb towards it and get to the next floor. There will be a manual door override on the wall.
- Reach the tracks and kill the next group of soldiers. You can use the mounted .50 caliber machine gun near the sandbags. Follow the tracks through the door that you opened.
- You will find the missile launch area. Eliminate any hostiles in the area. On each level, press the green button on outside of each work platform.
- Climb towards the surface. On the top level, press the activation button. The missile will rise. Go back down the ladder to the tracks.
- Board the train. Drive forward and lift the train towards the surface. When you reach a new set of tracks, proceed forward. Keep an eye out for soldiers who will ambush the track.
- Once the checkpoint of soldiers is neutralized, open the set of doors to the right. Open the red door on the left of that room and listen to the soldiers talk about you. When you’re done, shoot them.
- Head out to the surface. While fighting soldiers, cross the tracks to the rocket. To the right of the rocket there will be a basement door glowing red. Find the ladder at the bottom and move up to the launch room.
- Press the red button at the top of the launch room. Once the countdown ends, the missile will launch. Watch the rocket propel itself upwards. Leave the launch room.
- Move back out to the surface. There will be a newly opened set of doors on the tracks. Go through them and go down to the electrified water.
- Find the train on the lower set of tracks. Drive forward into the next area.

This “walkthrough” sucks. The character cannot even jump at all and many of the puzzles cannot be solved according to what this says. I have had to complete them using other means, such as stacking boxes up to get out of an area because the SOB can’t jump!
Now I am stuck in the sewage area at #15! BS!!! You can;’t avoid them and you can’t slow down! F this “game”

Missing out KNERD, just beat the game and had a lot of fun. the puzzles are headache level hard, but you’ve got to master the ctrl-space jump and shift-jump to solve the puzzles.

i found this walkthrough pretty strange , it seems to be mixed up with the original halfelife , i have got to lambada core and i am going around the cliff, up i go but cant jump any further , this part is not even in the walkthrough , and also agree it is not possible to jump some of the distances (and yes i do know about using the ctrl key) so you have to build a platform with drums and pallets , score out of 100 would be 30 , i wonder if this person has ever played the game ,

@Crusty,
Hey crusty! We’re here to help, but we’re going to need a little more information to solve this problem. Can you list which part of the Lambda Core guide is giving you trouble? Just a number of the entry is fine.
Sorry for the inconvenience! Also, make sure you’re using the Long-Jump Module when that becomes available in the Lambda Core, or Shift+Jump to make longer jumps when necessary. Many of the jumps can be tricky, but if you’ve still got problems, we want to help address them.

ok Kevin Thienhaus ,, fairs fair , first off i’m disapointed because Black Mesa is great in some ways better than original ,. OK where i am at present is “bm_c2a5c” up the cliff where i have to do a massive jump it looks like to get up the top , i will go back in my saved, to start of lamda core and find the long jump module , but from memory when you have passed that , you cant go back , if that is so then you should not be able to bypass it , i’m a bit confused on where the walkthrough is upto (as for me i’m always confused ) but it would be 13 onwards, and where is the part about going around the side of the cliffs ,, A bit of a ramble but i hope you get it
cheers crusty

#29-After activating the override, the water level will quickly rise. Swim towards the entrance and swim up to the ladder.
There is no ladder in the exit hole.

There is no ladder in the entrance/exit hole,so i can’t climb out!

@Jappy,
There is indeed a ladder — the first emergency exit from the sewers will have a broken ladder. Don’t fret, because if you’re going the right direction, toward the opposite side of the door you first dropping into the sewer from, you will find an exit with an intact ladder.

I love the game, but like the others, the character can not jump near high enough. If you could make him jump twice as high—-gosh what an improvement.

Try using your brain KNERD. You might find you actually enjoy gaming that way. Or you may just be better off just watching movies and fantasising you are the main character. This walkthrough is good to get a kick start on areas you get stuck on and Ive found it good. Gives you enough to keep moving but still lets you work stuff out for yourself. Good work guys.

@Faisal Aslam,
Can you pinpoint exactly in the walkthrough where you are having trouble?
If it is “Blast Pit” make sure to hit both red buttons. There are two, each in separate rooms.
