Black Ops 2 Sports Super-Customizable Create-a-Class System
When you fire up Call of Duty: Black Ops 2‘s multiplayer this fall, you’ll find yourself with more customization options for your load-out than ever before.
Treyarch’s new Create-a-Class system for the game provides tons of new options and basically boils down to choosing 10 items from a pile of more than 100. According to a rundown of the system from VG247 from an event at gamescom in Cologne, Germany, you’ll be able to choose just about anything — perks, weapons, auxiliary items, kit pieces — and use them to replace anything else.
In essence, your load-out will be uniquely yours, and as the story points out, you can even toss your primary weapon in favor of an additional perk or some other item.
Treyarch is referring to the system as “Pick 10″ internally because that’s the essence of what it is. You get access to all kinds of stuff (more of which can be unlocked, per usual), and just grab what makes sense for you and how you play. But everything counts against your 10: you can get more perks, if you prefer, but you’ll sacrifice weapons or “score streaks,” the new conception on kill streaks this time out. Each item you can add, including perks and streak rewards, counts as one “point” against your 10 total, so while you have lots of freedom, you’ll also have to make sacrifices.
Unlocking new stuff is going to take a while as well. Every time you “level up,” you’ll get access to seven new bits of kit to add to your pile of things to choose from — but you can only unlock one of those seven. So expect to be hitting the Prestige mark multiple times to get access to everything.
We’ll bring you more information about Black Ops 2′s multiplayer as it becomes available. Meantime, pop over here and check out the big list of crap VG247 saw in the gamescom build that you’ll be able to use to customize your load-out.
