Black Ops DLC Pack ‘First Strike’ Sells 1.4 Million in One Day

As if Activision and Treyarch weren’t pulling in enough money, turns out the publisher and developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops moved 1.4 million copies of First Strike, the first five-map DLC pack for Black Ops, on the first day it was available on Xbox 360.

First Strike launched on Feb. 1 exclusively on Xbox Live for about a month, going for 1,200 MS Points, or $15, per download. As Joystiq points out, that amounts to “$21 million in gross revenue in a single day — on a single platform!”

Activision also said that First Strike sales outpaced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s “Stimulus Package” DLC pack by about 20 percent, and continue to do the same after being released on PC and Playstation 3.

Good to see Activision making money on content that should be free.

Hurray for them.

Maybe they can use this revenue to make a CoD that isn’t exactly like the last four games.
