Blizzard Has Diablo 3 Running On Consoles

Still not quite 7 months since the release of Diablo 3, some fans are still clamoring for a console version of Diablo 3. I don’t blame them, if only because a console version might (I know, I know, not really) be more stable. It won’t fix the other problems, unfortunately, but it could be fun to play on your TV.

If you’re among those who’d like to see a console version, gird your loins. Rob Pardo has confirmed once again that they’re kicking around the possibility and, in fact, they’ve even got a console version up and running. “We’ve got builds up and running on it,” he told Polygon. “We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool.”

This is about as noncommittal as you can get, except for the part where they’ve actually taken the time to port the game over to consoles. No word on which consoles – we’ll assume both PS3 and Xbox 360 for the sake of argument – but the fact that they’ve devoted the resources to port it suggests they would like to do something. I’m guessing the thing they want to do figure out how to keep key assets hosted in house (something that plagues the PC and mac versions) to ensure battlenet access on console. No doubt they also need to work out a deal to actually have battlenet on consoles, but that’s a simple exchange of money.

We’ll see, I suppose. Or not. Would you even play? Sound off in comments.

whats he talking a console version being more stable then a pc version ? u got to be joking right ? my pc had no problem at running the game, the game just sucked, thats all, gameplay is fine the 1st months but later ull realize the game sucks when the prices are too ing high without paying 250$ for an item lol what a joke…….. at 1st i would close my ears when ppl would say diablo 3 sucked because i really wanted with my heart that the game would have been a D2 -> d3 style not WoW(ty game)->d3 style, but in the end i had to admit the game was huge dissapointement to any diablo 2 fan what a RiP Off seriously… the game could of been Amazing if they had a ing choice to make when you lvl up instead of having evrey thing in the mouth like a little baby bird…..

Dammit, clearly my comedy skills are in top form since I ruined my own sarcasm. I’ve updated it to make it clear I don’t actually think it’ll be more stable. #JokeFail

7 months and still no PVP! What a disappointment. Im surprised this is a priority for Blizzard given the imperfections in the core experience that seem to be killing the shelf life of this game.

The only reason to get D3 on console would be if it had 4 player couch co-op. Of course the whole game is still flawed and somehow Blizzard managed to design the entire experience while ignoring all of the things that actually made the previous entries entertaining and lasting.

Don’t forget the people that made d2 left blizzard and had no part in making d3, but if you want to play a game from the creators for d2 then buy torchlight 2 which is mod friendly and only costs around $19.99 on steam!
