Blizzard May be Forced to Announce “Titan” Soon
Blizzard may be forced to reveal its hand early in the face of market pressures and finally announce its “secret” project, Titan.
Allegedly, majority stockholder Vivendi might be looking to sell a large chunk of its Activision shares. Given Vivendi currently owns 61.5% of the company, this could cause stock prices to plummet.
The only announced projects Blizzard currently has in the pipeline are StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm and World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, both expected to see releases relatively soon. This means Blizzard has revealed no long-term projects to attract investors. Worse, WoW subscription losses continue to lower stock value.
How, then, can Activision stock be given a shot in the arm? By officially announcing Titan, the next-gen MMO that Blizzard accidentally leaked years ago, which was shown to be slated for a Q4 2014 release — though I’m sure that’s been pushed back, in true Blizzard fashion.
Speculation, of course, but it perhaps raises a more interesting question. Why hasn’t Blizzard revealed Titan yet? If Vivendi sells and Blizzard doesn’t reveal Titan, what does that tell us about this secret project?
