Blizzard Offers Nightwing Mount For Recruiting Friends to WoW
The latest round of incentives for bringing your friends into the World of Warcraft fold has been announced, with Blizzard offering players a free month of game time along with a new mount — the Obsidian Nightwing — to sweeten the deal.
According to a post on Battle.net, the X3 Touring Rocket mount has been retired from the Recruit-a-Friend program (you get to keep it if you earned it, though), and the Obsidian Nightwing, seen above, offered in its place. Here’s the caveat, though — instead of summoning the Nightwing to your side to ride it (it’s a big winged panther, by the way), when you “call on” the Nightwing, you actually become it. And then your friend can ride you.
I feel like there’s a weird WoW fanfic in here somewhere.
So here’s how Recruit-a-Friend works: you get a friend to sign up and they get the Starter Edition of World of Warcraft, which is free-to-play to level 20. If your friend then buys the World of Warcraft Battle Chest and 30 days of game time, you get your Darkwing and 30 days of game time as a bonus.
If your friend makes the purchase, you both get friend-to-friend summoning (so you can instantly zap yourself off to wherever your buddy is playing in the game world) and experience-point bonuses and grantable levels, to allow you and your friend to keep your character levels close enough together so that you can always play with one another.
What do you guys think? Is the Darkwing mount worthy of harassing your friends to join you in World of Warcraft?
