Blizzard Officially Releases Hearthstone, Adds Balance Changes
Blizzard’s digital collectible card game Hearthstone is out of beta and onto its official release.
The developer announced Hearthstone’s release today alongside new patch notes that explain some special rewards for Ranked match players, balancing changes, and some squashed bugs.
The rewards include a new gold “Hero” border for players who compete in 500 Ranked matches in Hearthstone, as well as custom card backs for players who compete in complete Ranked-game “seasons.” Both are aesthetic changes that give involved players a little more prestige among the rabble.
The patch details to specific balance changes, to minion cards Tinkmaster Overspark and Nat Pagle. Tinkmaster Overspark has had its stats increased slightly, while Nat Pagle’s effects have been altered slightly to nerf the card a bit. According to Blizzard, both changes should keep those cards useful in some situations, but not necessarily in all high-level decks.
You can read the complete patch notes here, and if you haven’t already tried Hearthstone in the open beta, you can download the game for free at playhearthstone.com. Note that you might have to click past a giant, confusing World of Warcraft ad; the link to Hearthstone is at the top of the page.
