Blizzard Prepping Heroes of the Storm Alpha Invites
Blizzard has announced that it shortly intends to start inviting players to the technical alpha for Heroes of the Storm.
The company revealed these plans in a recent blog post on the Heroes of the Storm website. This first phase of testing, it said, is “intended to help us better examine how our infrastructure and tech will function across a much broader spectrum of machines and connection types.” Moreover, it hopes to learn more about the investment it will need to make to ensure its hardware can “support the entire Heroes population” after the game launches and expands to a wider player base.
To earn an invite, prospective players will need to opt into Heroes of the Storm testing in the beta profile section of their Battle.Net account. Even then, the odds are against most people receiving an invite. “This initial testing phase will include a very limited pool of players,” said Blizzard. “While a few participants may be selected from opt-ins during this time, we will likely wait until the closed beta phase before we begin granting access to a larger number of players who have opted in via Battle.net.”
In other words, you’ll either get lucky and find yourself among the select few playing the game, or you’ll have to wait and watch from afar like everyone else. Luckily for the uninvited, Blizzard has revealed that there will be no non-disclosure agreement limiting what players can say and publish during their time with the alpha. “You’ll likely begin to see many new Heroes of the Storm streams, screenshots, blogs, and more once we start sending out invitations.”
