Blizzard Registers Domain for Mysterious “Project Blackstone”

Blizzard has registered the domain “Project Blackstone,” as spotted by Fusible with a WHOIS. ProjectBlackstone.com was previously registered to a resident of Texas, but it was not renewed after it expired in 2011.

At the time of this writing, the URL doesn’t resolve to a web page, and what “Project Blackstone” may refer to is a mystery. A Blackstone Ring can be found in World of Warcraft, as well as an NPC dwarf named Tharek Blackstone and a location known as “Blackstone Span,” but the name is generic enough to be any number of things, such as Diablo 3′s Black Soulstone.

Something StarCraft related can probably be ruled out, as the game’s two planned expansions have been accounted for: Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
