Blizzard Rolls Out Mobile Guild Chat

Are you one of the 12+ million World of Warcraft players? Do you find yourself needing to always be in guild chat? Are you afraid to leave the house because you fear missing something ‘important?’

If so, Blizzard has a brand new product that will ease your fears and make your life easier to live. Last night, they announced the addition of mobile guild chat to the WoW Mobile Armory app. According to the Official Blog, mobile guild chat will offer the following features:

- Read and contribute to your guild’s in-game chat channel in real time

- Participate in one-on-one conversations with members of your guild

- View the members of your guild who are currently online

During the launch period, Blizzard is offering Mobile Guild Chat for free. Once the preview period ends, you’ll need a World of Warcraft Remote subscription ($2.99/month) to continue using the service. It’s currently only available on selected realms, but Blizzard has said they plan to make the service available on all realms “eventually.” Currently the official blog is down, but the last list we saw had only Fizzcrank and Lightbringer as active realms.

The app is currently available for iPhone and iPod Touch as a free download here. You can see a shot of guild chat in the mobile app down below. The blog also mentions that the feature will be coming to Android devices “in the near future.” If you don’t have an iOS device, you’ll have to wait for that.
