Blizzard Seeks Producer to Coordinate In-game Advertising in Titan

You know you’ve made it as a game developer when even your job postings become news.

Specifically, games journalists have seized on a Blizzard listing for a “franchise development producer” who will be asked to “work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment’s next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience.”

That “next-gen MMO,” Blizzard’s Titan project, is the target of much speculation. While no one outside the halls of Blizzard’s Irvine, CA headquarters knows much of anything, the possibility of in-game advertising (perennially unpopular among gamers) is a disappointing piece of news.

While I do find the in-game advertising disappointing, this may be their method of delivering a subscription-free MMO out of the box. I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

@Brad

Bad thing, paying a subscription fee is far better then being bombarded with advertisements and then later forced to buy stuff out of some shop (Microtransaction).
