Blizzard Takes A Look Back At Raiding In WoW

With a new raiding structure coming to Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard shows us the history of WoW raiding.

Remember the 40-man runs through Molten Core swimming through an ocean of minions to get to each boss in the hopes that the one piece of gear you needed will drop? Well, that’s how raiding started in WoW. It’s been a long time since 2004-2006 and raiding has changed significantly since then.

In the first part of their three-part series, Blizzard reminisces about the history of raiding in World of Warcraft.

“To put the upcoming Warlords of Draenor raid changes into proper context, this three-part blog series will attempt to retrace the twists and turns of our raid design philosophy from Molten Core through Siege of Orgrimmar,” the blog stated. “Veterans will hopefully enjoy the trip down memory lane, and we hope those who discovered raiding later on will gain some insight into how things used to be . . . and why they changed,” Blizzard stated.
