Blizzard Teases “Something Different” for PAX East Reveal

Blizzard is normally a predictable company. We usually know what to expect from them. They’ll announce a World of Warcraft expansion at BlizzCon, show off the next Starcraft 2 expansion, and of course the console version of Diablo 3. Blizzard does things their own way, at their own show.

Well, until today. Today, I am greatly intrigued.

In my email this morning, I found a note from Blizzard, inviting me to join them for a presentation of, “A little something, different from our other games,” at PAX East in late March. Lest I think that I might know what’s on tap, they specified that, “It’s not a sequel, expansion, or that rumored next-gen MMO, but it’s something we’re excited for you to get your hands on.”

Now, this could just be Diablo 3′s console version. After all, we’ve already heard that it’ll be playable at PAX East. But it seems to me that if that’s what it was, they wouldn’t be so damned mysterious about it. Plus, later in the email, they refer to it as “the new Blizzard project.” Curiouser and curiouser.

We’ll have to wait and see what it could be, but for now, my money is on Blizzard All-Stars. In case you’ve forgotten, Blizzard All-Stars is the MOBA title that was originally called “Blizzard DOTA” until Valve and Blizzard settled their little court case.

It could also be something brand new, maybe even the title that Jay Wilson is now directing after having left the Diablo 3 team.

Whatever it turns out to be, rest assured that we’ll be on hand for the reveal, and we’ll bring you news of it as it happens. In the meantime, what do you think Blizzard’s going to announce?

Well since bungie/activision is doing a FPS game I believe Blizzard/activision is doing a FPS game as well. It the only thing all these companies can come up with.

Why should I care? ActiBlizzard ruined Diablo by releasing Diablo 3, Diablo used to be my favorite franchise and now it doesn’t even resemble a Diablo game.
