BlizzCon 2011 Afterparties Already in Planning

BlizzCon may be eight months away, but plans are already underway for its afterparties.

Blizzard Entertainment’s annual convention brings in thousands of fans to the Anaheim Convention Center in California to celebrate its three major franchises: Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft. With 27,000 attendees at the 2010 BlizzCon and thousands more attending each year since its opening in 2005, that leaves a whole orcish horde of fans retreating to their hotels the evenings of this 2-day event.

Team Liquid is planning early this year. With over 85,000 active members and upwards of 7 million total posts, TL stands among the top StarCraft community websites. For their 2010 BlizzCon Meet Up, the planners expected 500 attendees–and were blown away when 2000 people showed up. With an even bigger turnout expected this year, TL wants to work out the logistics well in advance.

Open to everyone and free of charge, the Team Liquid BlizzCon Meet Up offers food, drink, and the opportunity to meet with the StarCraft community, including pro gamers, casters, and developers. This year’s Meet Up will be streamed live on the internet for StarCraft and Blizzard fans worldwide.

Sponsored by big names such as Nvidia and J!NX, TL’s 2010 Meet Up featured pro gamer autograph signings and scrimmages projected on big screen–and for their 2011 Meet Up, TL is thinking bigger and better.

BlizzCon 2011 will take place on October 21 and 22.
