BlizzCon 2011: Buy WoW “Annual Pass,” Get Diablo 3 for FREE
Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime dropped a bomb on the beginning of BlizzCon. Anticipating the difficult choices that will face World of Warcraft players when Diablo 3 finally comes out, the company decided to do indecisive gamers a favor.
Purchase the new World of Warcraft “Annual Pass” (a 12-month subscription available now), and you’ll get your very own copy of Diablo 3 for free. That’s right — zero dollars.
What’s more, you’ll also be able to gain early access to the beta test for the next WoW expansion. Still greedy, are you? Well, how does an exclusive, franchise-crossover in-game mount sound? Because if you sign up for an Annual Pass, you’ll get that too, in the form of “Tyrael’s Charger,” pictured below. Counter-intuitively, you don’t even have to pay it all up front — Annual Passes can be paid off monthly, or in two six month installments.
If you’re a WoW subscriber interested in the Diablo 3 collector’s edition, the official site explains what will happen:
If you decide to purchase the Diablo III Collector’s Edition when it’s available, and then choose to add your Collector’s Edition license key to the Battle.net account associated with your existing World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion, you will receive all of the benefits associated with the Collector’s Edition, plus receive four months of World of Warcraft game time which is eligible towards your 12-month subscription commitment. After you purchase the Diablo III Collector’s Edition you just need to input the product key into the Battle.net account associated with your World of Warcraft 12-month commitment and that account will then receive the next 4 months of World of Warcraft game time for free. For example, if you already had a month of game time on the associated World of Warcraft account when you input your Diablo III Collector’s Edition product key, it would then be 5 months until your next subscription payment was due.
