Borderlands 2 DLC ‘Captain Scarlett’ Coming Oct. 16

It appears that the rumored Borderlands 2 DLC that players have discovered by pawing their way through things like achievements lists and Steam files is the real deal, and it’s coming next week.

The new downloadable content pack is called “Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty,” and takes place in a new location called Oasis. While the whole idea sounds nautical, here’s the catch: Oasis is actually a desert, and the pirates actually seem to ride around on ships that resemble Jabba the Hutt’s sand skiffs from Return of the Jedi. They’re sand pirates!

We don’t know much else at this point, except that Captain Scarlett is the first of four DLC expansions coming to Borderlands 2 as part of that new “season pass” gimmick developers and publishers have been doing lately. Each DLC costs $9.99 a la carte, but if you get the season pass, you get four for the price of three — just $29.99 in total.
