Borderlands 2 Headhunter DLC, Level Cap Increase On The Way
Gearbox has confirmed plans for even further expansions to Borderlands 2. Starting with a level cap increase by a further 11, to bring characters up to a maximum level cap of 72, Gearbox intends to put out new missions, raid bosses, and additional DLC packs. Additionally, Gearbox intends to release a free update for existing players to add more slots to their ammo, backpack and bank slots.
Gearbox made the announcement at a PAX Australia panel today (via Polygon), where they talked about the state of the game and also announced their plans to release HD remakes of Homeworld and its sequel.
The level cap increase has been named “Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge” and is priced at $5.00. It’s dated for release before the end of October. In addition to the level cap increase, players will be able to partake in battle against high-level enemies which players can choose to “over level” for an “impossible” challenge. Defeating these enemies will earn players high level loot.
Gearbox also intends to release “Headhunter” packs, which offer new missions and boss fights. The first of these missions is T.K. Baha’s Bloody Harvest, which brings back the character last seen in Borderlands. The undead character will send players to fight Jaques O’Lantern, a giant pumpkin boss who will give new character customizations as a reward for being beaten. Other headhunter packs are coming in the future, but Gearbox has yet to reveal the pricing or release dates.
Finally, the studio has announced plans to release more character heads and skins, this time in the theme of the game’s Dungeons & Dragons-themed DLC, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. They’ll be out within a couple weeks.
