Borderlands 2 Ready for Certification, Gearbox Looks to DLC

Borderlands 2 is in the can, off to certification from Microsoft and Sony for its various console releases.

That means that the on-disc content, the core game of Borderlands 2, is done and ready to be printed on discs ahead of its release in September. According to a post on Gearboxity, that means the team has started to turn its attention to producing post-launch DLC. On that docket is the Mechromancer character class, which will be released two to three months after the launch of Borderlands 2. That DLC will be free to members of the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club.

You can join the Premiere Club by pre-ordering Borderlands 2 just about anytime before its release on Sept. 18 (or Sept. 21 in Europe).

Another game that is doing the DLC subscription thing? I suppose this will end up like pre-order bonuses where companies make offers to entice players into buying without any knowledge of the final product. I’m not knocking Borderlands specifically, but this trend is disturbing to me.
