Borderlands 2 Will Take You At Least 60 Hours, Pitchford Says

The first Borderlands took most players about 25 or 30 hours to complete, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, but a “quick” playthrough of Borderlands 2 is going to require players spend about twice that amount of time playing.

Pitchford told Nowgamer that writers creating Borderlands 2′s Prima Guide came to Gearbox Studios to work on walkthrough, intending to spend about a week with the game. They intended to make a quick runthrough of the game first with one character, then spend time with each other character and find all of the game’s secrets. The result, however, was that their first runthrough took about 60 hours, and that they had to spend better than twice as much time as they intended in creating the walkthrough.

“Part of why that happened is, when we were playing the first Borderlands, for most of us it became a hobby, just as it did for a lot of our fans,” Pitchford said. “So we really took the idea that Borderlands 2 needed to be a hobby as well.”
