Borderlands 2 will use Steamworks on PC

You have to hand it to Valve. The announcement of DRM is almost universally seen as bad news, but it seems to be just dandy when Steamworks is involved. If you are one of those folk that have no issue with Valve’s anti-piracy measure, you’ll be thrilled to learn that the PC version of Borderlands 2 shall be rocking it. As expected, it’ll get all the benefits that Steamworks provides as well. DRM with benefits to the paying consumer … what an idea!

Such benefits include cloud saving, Steam Achievements, auto-updates, matchmaking and easily obtainable downloadable content. This extends to retail copies of the game, as well as those purchased digitally through Steam itself.

The game is up for pre-order right now, and it’ll be available on September 18. I’m pretty stoked.
