Bowling Says You Won’t Get Banned For Playing Modern Warfare 3 Early
You’ve probably seen this update floating around a few of our other Modern Warfare 3 posts, but we figured any of you living in fear of an Xbox Live ban ought to be brought up to speed.
Apparently there are quite a few retailers who can’t contain their Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 excitement and are selling the game early, and when it started to hear that news, Microsoft said last week that players jumping into the massive first-person shooter might have their Xbox Live accounts to worry about.
But according to Infinity Ward today, the banhammer will show mercy players who have legitimate, store-bought copies of the game and got hold of them a little early. After all, it’s not your fault some stockboy at Walmart is an idiot.
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling said via Twitter the developer had “no plans to ban legit fans,” but implored players to wait until midnight tonight to start playing and to keep the spoilers to a minimum. So you might want to be careful around the Intertubes for the next few hours if you’re hoping to keep your Modern Warfare 3 experience unsullied.
While Bowling has pledged to be merciful to people who happened on a little MW3 luck, if your copy fell off the back of a truck, I would expect no such leniency.
