BREAKING: Sony Cares About the Killzone Franchise
Like just about every AAA game these days, Killzone 3 has a “the story will continue…”-type ending, because of course Sony will make another Killzone game if it’s financially viable. They aren’t even waiting to see if KZ3 is a success, really, because they’re putting a Killzone game together for the NGP.
Anyway, GamingBolt had a fella at the KZ3 launch party in India, and they asked the Sony India honcho about the possibility of Killzone 4 happening. Not surprisingly, he said absolutely nothing of substance:
Killzone is a franchise we have invested in, it is a franchise we know does wonders for us, and therefore it’s a franchise that we’ll always back up.
And that is that.To answer your question, though, Shubhankar Parijat of Gaming Bolt, I’ll repeat something I said 100 words ago: They’ll make another Killzone game if they deem it financially viable to do so, which means they probably will. Note this pearl of wisdom: every video game that its backers deem a financial success gets a sequel, and a significant number of unsuccessful games also get sequels. So if you play a game that seems like it leaves the door open for a sequel, and you wonder to yourself whether or not it will get one, the answer is probably yes. It’s still OK to ask people about it, but there’s no need to try to read into those comments when the answer is always the same.
