Bungie Concocting Special Creation to Replace Unique Console

Bungie is going the extra mile to right a horrendous mixup and restore one fan’s piece of history.

360topbig.jpgGaming Today issued a warning to those who need to get a customized console repaired. “Nathaniel” turned in his one-of-a-kind Xbox 360 for repairs and had it returned with invaluable signatures and artwork of gaming industry greats carefully cleaned off.

According to Next Generation, Bungie is stepping forward with a super-secret project to repair the damage.

“Something is already ‘afoot’ within Bungie to help our community member in need,” Bungie community director Brian Jarrard told Next-Gen on Monday. “Our team and the community as a whole is rallying to help fix this unfortunate situation. It’s been awesome to see such an outpouring of sympathy and support from our community. We can’t replace the exact item that was lost but, but we should come very close.

“I think when it’s all said and done, justice will prevail,” said Jarrard.

This is just the kind of thing that shows sometimes gamers can be some of the most loyal, supportive people out there. The project is still classified top secret, but we’ll be waiting for the big reveal.

Wow Jack…sounds like you lost something similar but no one wanted to help you…

That, or you were abused as a child…

I’m leaning towards both.

I’m glad that Microsoft is willing to attempt to replace the invaluable xbox, however I think that they’ll never be able to really replace it, in the gamers heart..

The kids only mistake was trusting the morons at Microsoft’s repair center to actually do their jobs and repair the console, not give it a bath.

Those of you who love to troll and just insult people, stop.

We really need someone to moderate these comments.

Jack, emails like that I can tell you still have never tasted the sweet nectar of a in your life and you prbably never will. Even if you do I want you to know that deep down you didn’t do it right and your is WAY TO SMALL. MS isn’t attempting to right a wrong here – Bungie is in their new independence. Good for them!

By the way, you meant TOO small, not ‘to’. You need to go back to school instead of making up stories.

And to the rest of you, I read the news on this site like everyone else, and I have the right to comment on it as I see fit. And just because I’m not like you (which I am very glad of) does not mean I am in the wrong.

Just out of curiosity, where was this guy supposed to send his console to get repaired? Or was he supposed to keep the broken one as a cherished memento and buy a new one on the off chance that someone at Microsoft was going to “wash” it by accident? Damn, he should have had the foresight that Jack obviously is so very gifted with (and we’re definitely not talking about 20/20 hindsight here – we KNOW Jack would NEVER have made the same mistake being as perfect as he is).

@weclock. Microsoft is not replacing it, BUNGIE IS. Note that they two completely seperate entities.

Giving MS credit for this is a terrible misjudgement on your part, and even though the kind folks at Bungie have gone the extra mile to fix this situation, that does not absolve Microsoft of their sin.

Give credit where credit is due. Bungie: you guys rock
Microsoft: You guys suck.

Jack is an Ass!

I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection

Poor Jack. Although I agree the kid was an idiot to send his console in for repair, Jack’s comment is classic internet douche behavior. He’s is either 12 years old or something happened to him when he was 12 and now he is stuck emotionally at that point in his life. He deserves our pity.

While Jack is a moron, I don’t have any sympathy for the kid. If you have something that’s a collectors piece you don’t use it any more. That’s like using a muscle car as your grocery getter.

what’s the point of owning a car if you don’t drive it ? Collector or not… (and before you flame, I own a 1950 Dodge Coronet).
