Bungie Gives A Recovering Boy Some Love
Fourteen days ago, a gamer going by “fiscal_” wrote a post on Reddit’s Halo forums to ask the community if they knew how to get in touch with The Bungie Foundation, a charity organization spearheaded by the studio. In the post, he wrote that his son received was the recipient of a liver transplant, and was recovering at the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
“He asked for a replica assault rifle for Christmas, but the only thing I could find was a couple hundred dollars on etsy, we couldn’t quite afford that,” he wrote of his son, who happens to be a huge fan of the Halo series. “Does anyone have any contact info for the Bungie Foundation? I was hoping they could guide me towards something that could get some smiles out of him after the transplant and some post op trauma.”
As other gamers shared their own transplant stories on the site, it wasn’t too long after the post that members of the community put him in touch with Bungie. The kind souls at Bungie took it into their own hands to deliver an amazing gift to the boy while he was recovering in hospital, creating for him his very own Spartan helmet.
“My family can’t thank Bungie enough. I know that they have had a huge impact on how well my son has been recovering after his surgery,” wrote fiscal_, who has since posted a gallery of pictures of his son’s recovery. “Also, thanks to everyone in this subreddit that assisted in Bungie reaching out to my son!”
“Yes, Bungie gave the helmet to my son, he can’t get enough of it. This thing is detaillled and HEAVY!”
Excuse me while I peel some onions over here.
