Bungie Wants Beta Testers For Their Upcoming Game

Fresh from having kissed the Halo franchise goodbye, Bungie is working hard on their next project, their first for Activision Blizzard and one that, unlike previous IP, they’ll retain the rights to. That game, incidentally, is almost certainly an MMO currently called “Destiny”. And as the game begins to approach completion, they’re beginning the beta testing process, and that means inviting the hoi polloi to play.

However, you can’t be any geek off the street. You have to be handy with the steel if you know what I mean, earn your keep. No, wait, that’s if you want to be a regulator. If you want to be a beta tester on Bungie’s next game, they have very specific qualities they’re looking for. On their official site, in response to a question about whether they’ve started looking for beta testers, they had this to say:

“We most certainly have! Our User Research team has very specific curiosities in mind when they tap a Beta Tester on the shoulder. The mazes that they build into their Laboratorium are meticulously customized for the people they choose to run through them. If you have yet to be selected, sit tight – and make sure that the email address attached to your profile is one that you still check. Your time may yet come.”

So if you’ve reached out to become a tester, keep an eye out for an invitation. And if you’re accepted, be sure to let us know.

They abandoned the Halo franchise. I’m not interested!

After all these years I think they had not only a good run on Halo but deserve a break from it. I imagine there were many ideas they wanted to work on that they just couldn’t because of Halo. They made Oni in the past along with Marathon and I’m sure they want to make many more different games.

Right, because working on the same thing for over a decade NEVER gets old.

Anyway, I’m excited to see what Bungie’s working on, and I hope I get picked to be a tester.
