By Popular Demand, Dark Souls is Coming to PC (TRAILER)
The game previously was console-only, appearing on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but Dark Souls always felt like a PC title without a PC release. Apparently, lots of gamers felt the same way, and they actively petitioned Namco to port the game to PC. The fan passion was so great, the publisher said, that it couldn’t be ignored.
“Our fans demanded to see this game brought to the PC, and the noise they have made was simply too loud and too passionate to ignore,” said Hidetaka Miyazaki, creative director for Dark Souls at developer FromSoftware, in a press release. “This also allowed us to dive back into the world of Dark Souls, offering a special edition of the game that offers more ways to die over and over again than ever before.”
It’s called Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition, by the way, and it actually packs a new chapter called Artorias of the Abyss, which includes new areas to explore and enemies by whom to get murdered. Sounds like there are even two additional bosses.
Prepare to Die edition also will include an “enhanced PvP mode” to make fighting people online more…I dunno, more Dark Soulsy, I guess. Here’s how the press release describes it: “…an enhanced PVP mode allowing players to more closely assemble battles against one another online in an all-out fight to the death that fans have demanded.” Sounds good.
Pat on the back and a big high five to the gaming community that’s in love with Dark Souls and worked to make it worth Namco’s while to bring it to PC. Ditto to Namco, for seeing a fan community and bringing them what they want. Come August, it sounds like a lot of people will be pretty happy.
