Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Release Date Supposedly Leaked
Rumors around the Internet have it that the next off-year Call of Duty title (that is, not a Modern Warfare entry into the series) will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Further rumors suggest it has a (fully predictable) release date: November 12.
The date reportedly showed up on a Spanish online ad by retailer Fnac, an image of which was snagged by Gamepur. There’s not a lot of info on the image except the date, but that jives well with Activision’s yearly refreshes of the series, which tend to get released in the second week of November. The trouble is, it’s also a Monday; games tend to release on Tuesdays, which would put the likely release date for Blops Deux on Nov. 12 or Nov. 6. But even if Fnac is guessing at the release date, you can pretty well bet November when the game will be out, barring some kind development disaster.
The other interesting thing about the image is that it further strengthens the assumption that Black Ops 2 will be the name of the next title. The first Black Ops was a record-breaking release in 2010, so it’s very reasonable that Activision would rather continue to build on that sub-franchise than create a more disparate entry. We could very well be on the cusp of two Call of Duty franchises releasing in tandem. Yikes.
