Call of Duty: Ghosts Devestation DLC Gets Xbox Live Release Date
Activision has announced the release for Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Devestation DLC.
According to a release from the publisher, the new DLC pack will debut on April 3rd. This initial launch will be exclusive to Xbox Live and contains a bevy a new content including new maps, new weaponry and the second episode of the four-part Extinction narrative. The new episode, entitled Mayday, will culminate in a final battle against “a monstrous, 100-foot tall Cryptid alien boss” the developers have dubbed “the Kraken.”
The new maps will be small-to-medium sized areas and include a Mayan temple, a wrecked container ship, a South American excavation digger and a “reimagined” version of the Dome map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The new maps will be named Ruins, Collision, Behemoth and Unearthed, respectively.
Ghosts season pass owners will also gain access to the new Ripper weapon which has the unique ability to convert from a sub machine-gun to an assault rifle at the player’s command. Players who haven’t invested in the season pass can alternatively buy the Devestation DLC seperately for $14.99. Activision understandably thinks the content is worth the price tag.
“The Devastation DLC Pack continues the fast-paced, fun and imaginative gameplay that Infinity Ward and Neversoft began with Onslaught,” said Activision’s Daniel Suarez in a statement. “The teams have added new weapons; the next intense continuation in Extinction’s four-part, episodic narrative; and another epic, action film character soon to be revealed. Devastation, like Onslaught before it, is a ton of fun, and we can’t wait for the community to experience it all.”
In addition to the DLC’s release date, the publisher also announced that “for the first time in Call of Duty history,” it will be releasing a multiplayer demo that Xbox Live users can download to sample Ghosts. The demo will become available on March 7th and will remain open until March 10th.
