Call of Duty XP: Elite TV, Part of CoD: Elite Premium Subscription, Features Content from Ridley Scott
We heard a rumor last week that famed director Ridley Scott, along with his brother, also-famed director Tony Scott, would be producing original, Call of Duty-related content for Activision. At the time, we speculated that it might be part of the premium subscription tier of Call of Duty: Elite, and now we’ve confirmed that’s the case.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said at yesterday at the press preview of Call of Duty XP that the Scotts would be producing content for a show being filmed this fall for Elite TV, a premium, exclusive feature of Call of Duty: Elite. It’s called Friday Night Fights, and it’ll bring real-world rivals — firemen and police, democrats and republicans, etc. — into CoD matches to duke it out for the enjoyment of players.
Hirshberg also detailed another show, called Noob Tube, that will feature “Arrested Development” alumni actors Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. That show, basically, will be the two comedic actors presenting running commentary on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 videos posted to YouTube through the game‘s theater mode. It sounds like it’ll be something like a mix between “Mystery Science Theater 3000″ and “Tosh.0,” but with specific focus on Call of Duty.
Both shows aren’t complete yet, so Hirshberg didn’t give many more details in his presentation. We’ve also heard rumors that Ben Silverman, presumed to be the Ben Silverman who produces for “The Office,” may also be involved in creating content.
