Capcom Says RE6 On-Disc DLC There B/C ‘Technical Reasons’

As if you weren’t expecting it, Resident Evil 6 apparently has on-disc DLC content. That is of course Capcom’s MO; they already weathered a storm of criticism back in July thanks to on-disc DLC on Street Fighter X Tekken. But seriously, at some point it’s as though the industry is daring us to stop buying their products no matter how much content is dummied out just to get more money from us.

The DLC has been discovered by gamers and videos, embedded below, have been posted proving it.

Here’s “No Hope Difficulty”:

Here are new costumes and taunts:

Obviously, this practice is galling. BioWare put it best when they acknowledged that fans won’t be happy with stuff like this until it becomes normal, which is why we need to do everything we can to prevent it. Alas, your complaints may fall on deaf ears. Capcom has responded to complaints, and it’s essentially ‘tough titty’:

“We still have unannounced DLC for RE6 that will be revealed in the coming months and while virtually all such content will not be on the disc there will be one piece of content, that for technical reasons, requires the use of a combination of newly downloaded data and data that is included on the retail game disc.”

So there you go, plebs. No need to worry, it’s for technical reasons only! Cough.

Was the DLC pre order exclusive content? As much as I love Gearbox and Borderlands 2 the gamestop “exslusive” DLC can be accessed by people without it as long as you enter the area with someone with the mission there active. I don’t hear people screaming about that and its on disc. If its paid DLC that’s on disc I can see where people would rage about it. I don’t really see the anger if its pre order stuff cause it will be available for everyone eventually.

I typically avoid DLC like this, even if it isn’t on the disc because it’s such an obvious and easy cash grab. Sorry, Capcom, but if you want me to buy DLC, it needs to actually be worth something, and it’s pretty hard to see the value when you’re asking me to pay for something that I feel like I already paid for.

Well Capcom, for technical reasons (You’re technically unethical), I’m not buying any more of your products. Actually; haven’t been since Street Fighter vs Tekken- because that’s when you started being unethical. Do you feel better?
