logo_mlg_lrg.gifGaming Today has been following the Major League Gaming Meadowlands Competition. North Jersey Media Group has some of the highlights of this weekend’s competition. Local favorite Eric “GH057AYAME” Hewitt, 19 played in the final round of Halo 2 as a member of team Carbon. Last season’s Halo 2 Champion was “blown out” by Final Boss, a close competitor last season.

“It was really close last year,” MLG employee Aaron Watson said. “But this time it was just a blowout.”

Marco Lambino, who travels with MLG to the six yearly events, credits YouTube for the shift in the league and newcomer skills and playing styles.

“The advent of YouTube has been a great thing for these kids,” Lambino said. “It helps them learn strategies that allow the pros to win.”

The competition attracted 20,000 spectators to the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus.
