Carmageddon: Reincarnation Now Has A Kickstarter

First announced last fall, Carmageddon: Reincarnation – no, not that Carmageddon – promises to revive the classic series first launched in 1997 as a downloadable title. Best of all, it’s to be developed by the original series creator, Stainless (who finally wrangled the rights after a protracted effort spanning years). Since that announcement, little activity has been seen though the official site has a thorough record of their hard work. Now, however, we see the first tangible evidence of movement, with the establishment of a Kickstarter for the game.

Yes, Stainless is going where, well, a lot of people have gone before, seeking to raise $400,000 by the end of May. So far, they’re taking funds in at a fast clip with 1,489 (at current count) and $65,031 raised. At that rate, they ought to be getting offers from Obsidian any day now. And as always, they’re sweetening the pot with special gifts depending on how much you donate. This ranges from a listing in the credits (for pledging one dollar), to the chance to designe a car or be immortalized as an opponent ($10,000 and up). See the kickstarter page for more details.

So what say you, dear readers? Excited about the first new Carmageddon since Clinton was in office (yes, it was a long time ago)? Sound off in comments.
