Castle Crashers Releases at Long Last on Wednesday

Gaming Today

It’s been a very long wait for Castle Crashers, which has been in development for over three years now. When word came of a delay into 2008 at GDC last year, it seemed unfathomable. As it turned out, the delay was even longer than a full year from when we first received the news. but the date has been set for weeks now and we will finally see Castle Crashers take the Summer of Arcade out in style this Wednesday.

As previously reported, the game’s price is set at 1200 Microsoft points ($15) is the game’s price. While Braid drew complaints from some for being set at the same price point, Castle Crashers’ price will be hard to argue with when looking at the value it has packed in. Online play (including co-op) for up to four players and leaderboards are always much-welcomed features in Xbox Live Arcade games, so Castle Crashers will, at the very least, succeed in that department.

Check out 1UP’s previews of the game from the past few years to get a feel for what’s in store, and be sure to check back on Wednesday for 1UP’s review.
