CD Projekt: Witcher 3 Delay Won’t Impact Cyberpunk 2077

Geralt of Rivia has been besorceled by an enchantress, delaying The Witcher 3 until 2015. So what’s that mean for CD Projekt Red’s other anticipated game, Cyberpunk 2077?

That’s the question posed to studio boss Marcin Iwinski by GameSpot, and here’s how he responded:

“Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected,” Iwinski said.

Not really.

Iwinski explained that some Cyberpunk 2077 developers have been moved over to The Witcher 3 to help get it out the door and meet its new February 2015 release window. He said it won’t have any significant impact on Cyberpunk 2077′s development, but, to me at least, fewer designers = slower progress. It’s why CD Projekt added more devs to The Witcher 3 — to speed things up.

Then again, CD Projekt has never announced a release date for Cyberpunk 2077, so we’ll likely never know just how much of an impact The Witcher 3′s delay had.

For now, it’s all hands on deck for The Witcher 3.

Well, to be honest, people rarely remember after a year has gone past whether the game was delayed a few months, only whether it was good or a flop.

If it makes the game better and they have enough financial assets to keep afloat while polishing the game, I’m all for it. They should end the Witcher saga with a bang, not a fizzle.

It’s kind of not fair to the players. They promised that The Witcher will come out in the fall and now almost another year you have to wait for him. Something is probably wrong. Well, that although the Lords of the Fallen come out in time it will be what to do.

@Buba First off, they didn’t promise anything. They give you a best guess when they think it will be ready for the public. Not because they want to, but because we expect it, and a lot of people kind of demand it.
Personally, there track record speaks for it’s self. I trust them to make a great game and would rather them delay the game for awhile making sure it is a great game, than to get a game that wasn’t ready. They take the time to make it great, unlike a number of publisher we won’t mention (EA). I will make due till it comes out and know that I will love the game.

Lol… They care more about the game that has release date in 2015-2016!
They should move some gamedev’s from CP2077 to support W3 production! But who cares…

@WizzarOz I agree with you. CD Project RED should delay release date another game which they work on and try finished one of most wanted RPG game on time. But no on CD Project RED opinion better things is delay The Witcher 3 and tell us they have much more to work on it. Tell us they don’t want do this same fake like EA.

I’m not saying that The Witcher is not a great game, and sure to be a hit and I understand they do not want to spend the game that is not over. I’m just saying that some three weeks ago still talked about the fact that, however, will be released in 2014 and after the canceled premiere, revealed a list of things that still need to do. Say one doing something completely different.

Exactly! Who know is it the last delay?? I’m almost sure that they won’t make it prefect even if they would wait to 2016. We will stil have to instal some patch or repair pack becouse there will be always something to repair after release. So CD should let us play The Witcher earlier than 2015.

Well, this is a big surprise for me, a successful company should not do that. No matter what caused the delay, certainly disappoint a lot of players, I feel disappointed now.

Maybe CD Project RED want to wait for more next-gen consoles will be sales:P Who knows. Yes I agree with you guys. First tell that The Witcher 3 will be release in 2014 then delay release date to February 2015. Yes this message has disappointed me.
