Championship Gaming Series Draft to be Held at the Playboy Mansion

Playboy BunnyGamers at the Playboy Mansion?? Say it isn’t so!

The Championship Gaming Series will be holding its initial draft at the Playboy Mansion on June 12, 2007. The ‘best’ gamers in the world will be gathered there in the hopes of being drafted onto one of the newly-formed professional gaming teams.

I know you want to ask, how is this different from other gaming leagues? Well, it turns out that the CGS is built on the model of a professional sports league, where teams have a home city, and players are paid a salary regardless of performance. In fact, the league payroll is reported to be around $5 million. So, it will be interesting to see how this works out the first season. If it’s successful, it could spark an expansion to allow more teams and gamers into the league.

Personally, I have to think that it would be hard to concentrate on the draft in the grotto of the Playboy Mansion, but that’s just me.
