Chroma Squad, a Sentai Simulator, Fully Funded on Kickstarter

The studio behind Knights of Pen and Paper, Behold Studios, has successfully funded its new game, Chroma Squad, through Kickstarter. The game follows a group of Sentai acrobats who open up their own indie TV studio to film stories about costumed superheroes teaming up to defeat monsters.

The game is described as a “tactical turn-based manager game,” with Sentai heroes and old-school pixel art.

I’ve mentioned Sentai twice now, so what is Sentai exactly? It’s the genre of TV show that the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers belongs to, made popular in Japan—and elsewhere, later on—back in the ’80s and ’90s.

Chroma Squad had a slated goal of $55,000, and has since passed the mark with 14 days left on the clock. You can pledge to support it here, or vote to get it on Steam Greenlight. It comes out in late 2013.
