When Manchester city cathedral threw a tantrum over Resistance: Fall of Man I'm pretty sure it would have been more beneficial if they had tried to use it to get people to visit the Cathedral and maybe be a bit more 'Christian' about the whole event. I'm sure they could have knocked up some blurb for a tour guide about the similarities of the game bringing man together fighting evil and the Church doing the same thing in real life or some crap like that. With Church attendances in the UK at an all time low they need all the advertising they can get.
